Joshua’s experience with prayer was a great one, he and the Israelites were fighting the battle of Jericho. They had to march around the city once a day for six days and on the seventh day, they had to march around seven times. On the seventh time around, when they blew their trumpets, God caused the walls of Jericho to collapse. And because of their prayers, the Israelites were able to defeat their enemies and take possession of the Promised Land.

In the book of Daniel, we see how God answers prayer in a miraculous way. Daniel was thrown into a lions’ den because he refused to worship false gods. But because he had prayed to God faithfully, an angel was sent to protect him from the lions. And when Daniel was brought out of the den, he was unharmed!

Elijah was a great prophet of God who lived in a time when the people had turned away from God and were worshiping false gods. Elijah prayed that God would send rain , and miraculously, after seven years of drought, it began to rain!

In the book of Matthew, we see Jesus teaching His disciples how to pray. He tells them to ask God for their daily bread and to forgive their debts. He also teaches them to pray for deliverance from evil. And we see that when the disciples prayed, Jesus always answered their prayers. He even went so far as to say that whatever they asked for in prayer, they would receive.

Jesus’ prayer life was an example for us, He would often go off by Himself to pray. In the Garden of Gethsemane, we see Jesus praying earnestly for God’s will to be done. And on the cross, we see Jesus forgiving His enemies and asking God to forgive them as well.
